You say that I don’t care
About your feelings.
When you tell me that
You love me,
I don’t say it back.
When you tell me that
You miss me while we’re apart,
And I don’t say it back.
When you tell me that you’re sorry
For missing dinner,
I don’t say that it’s okay either.
You tell those words to everyone –
Your parents, friends, colleagues.
But, you don’t notice that every time
You smile at me, I smile back.
Because, I know that I am the cause of
The happiness that lights up your eyes.
